App Developer (React Native)

No Isolation is seeking a Mobile App Developer who is passionate about inclusion and innovation to join the Oslo team.

Full-time · Oslo

Loneliness is one of the most pressing challenges of the 21st century. No Isolation creates groundbreaking solutions to this problem for some of the most vulnerable in society.

About No Isolation

We are No Isolation, a company dedicated to reducing loneliness and social isolation, run by 50 passionate changemakers, entrepreneurs, and technologists. Our journey started in 2015 in Oslo, Norway, where our headquarters are located. We work across Europe, with offices in Munich and London, and have exciting expansion plans.

We are guided by strong values of equality and inclusion, as well as the belief that business can be a force for good. We design and sell “warm technology” products that create genuine feelings of human connection and belonging for those who cannot physically be together due to illness, age, or distance.

We have two products on the market today. AV1 is a telepresence robot that acts as the child’s eyes, ears and voice in the classroom, and Komp is a device that lets digital children and grandchildren share photos, messages and video calls with their analogue grandparents. Both products have received praise from external researchers for increasing the life quality of their users.

We are looking for an App Developer (React Native) to join our Product Development team. You will work with our mobile applications which operate our physical products AV1 and Komp.

About the role

Your main area of responsibility will be to create, code, and improve the apps accompanying our hardware products, as well as any future apps we might develop, to create a seamless experience for our end-users. React Native is our main framework, but from time to time native code will be needed.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of UX and UI designers, and backend and embedded developers, to design and code the user experiences end-to-end
  • Optimise code for stability and performance
  • Participating in continuing education and training to remain current on best practices, learn new programming languages, and better assist other team members

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about our mission to reduce social isolation and love building great user experiences. You are a team player who likes working in a fast-paced environment.

In addition, the ideal candidate has:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer programming, computer science, related fields, or 2 years experience in mobile app development (iOS or Android)
  • Experience building and maintaining high-performing mobile apps
  • Proficiency in React Native and Redux
  • Skilled in implementing design with a focus on details
  • Experience working with WebRTC
  • General knowledge about information security and privacy requirements

It would also be preferred if you have:

  • Experience with Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, and/or Java
  • A good grasp of fundamental app design concepts
  • Familiarity with TypeScript

As we greatly value ambition and willingness to learn, we would like to hear from you even if you do not meet all the criteria listed above.

Our employees share some common traits; they are kind, self-propelled, hardworking, great team players, responsible, and enjoy a good laugh.

Inclusion and diversity

At No Isolation, we are committed to equality of opportunity for all. As a company working to eradicate loneliness we feel it is important that our team reflects a wide range of perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds so that we can better achieve our mission.
